A Real Life Event Demonstrating The Benefits of Graphics Software.

The following wasn't a demo or a simulation. This actually happened.

Last week, during routine servicing of a fire alarm system with Grail Graphics installed, the service engineers were alerted to a Pre-Alarm activation on a different floor of the building to the one being tested.

Minutes later, that Pre-Alarm escalated into a confirmed Fire Condition, signaled by the activation of the smoke detector, alongside multiple manual call point activations.

Recognising that sounders and outputs were in service mode, the response was immediate:

• Outputs were restored
• Sounders and Outputs activated
• The building evacuated
• The fire brigade attended with a full scale response

The brigade acted immediately, filling the dry risers, extending a ladder and extinguishing the fire quickly. The fire was contained to a single room and, thankfully, nobody was hurt.

During the post event analysis, what stood out wasn’t just the quick response — it was the visibility to the sequence of events surrounding the activation.

Using Grail Graphics, the fire brigade could instantly visualise:

• Where the smoke started
• How quickly it intensified from smouldering smoke to a fire
• The direction it spread by seeing the activation sequence of nearby devices
• The escape path of individuals by observing the activated manual call points.

Grails historical log also highlighted that from the first activation to a full emergency response was just 3 minutes.
